Golden State Warriors: 3 pros to trading the team’s 2020 first-round pick
Potential star addition
While it may be exciting to be the first team to snatch a young college star out of the draft, it can also come with downfalls.
Many first-round picks have sizzled out under the pressures of professional basketball (i.e. Anthony Bennett), but the Warriors eliminate that risk by trading their first-pick.
With Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bradley Beal being potential trade targets, it is quite frankly more assuring to see the Warriors gain players who have already made their mark on the NBA, and don’t need the Warriors to mold them until they make a name for themselves.
As written in previous articles, additions like Antetokounmpo and Beal have major pluses, and there is no doubt they will be able to blend in with Warriors legends like Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.
It would be more interesting to see the Warriors build an unstoppable team with seasoned veterans than to bring in unproven rookies who may not even earn their spot in the league.
As of the 2019-2020 season, Giannis is averaging 29.6 points per game, and Beal is averaging 30.5 points per game, both pose obvious powerhouse potential.
