Better draft class on the horizon

Honestly, the 2020 NBA draft class got robbed. COVID-19 robbed both college and professional basketball from being able to have some spotlight in the early spring.

There was less time to play, less time to scout, and less time for players to prove themselves. Think of March Madness standouts like Shabazz Napier whose stock soared after the tournament.

With that being said, this year’s draft class is not an honest reflection of potential, hopefully.

March Madness is the time to show up as a rising star before declaring for the draft, and players were not given that opportunity to shine. Some of those players declared for the draft anyway, and some gave themselves another year to chase an NCAA National Championship.

Those players that chose another year will be patiently awaited next year, as they take another year in college basketball to gain more experience before coming to the big leagues. Next year’s draft will certainly contain players that are stronger, faster, and with sharper skills.

The Warriors likely could’ve managed Minnesota’s first-round pick in this coming draft, but they wanted the one next season.

They clearly don’t trust this draft’s potential either, so it’ll be interesting if they opt to trade back, especially if they miss out in the indefinitely-postponed lottery.
