The Golden State Warriors continue to evaluate all of their options for the 2020 NBA Draft as Anthony Edwards is back on their radar.

Deciding what to do in the 2020 NBA Draft was always going to be a challenge for the Golden State Warriors. Few prospects have stood out as future stars and the franchise isn’t exactly planning on entering a rebuilding stage. Anthony Edwards is perhaps the one player that fills all of the Warriors’ needs.

Reports have been all over the place for the Dubs. Edwards is the most recent prospect to be thrust into the spotlight. According to The San Francisco Chronicle, Edwards would likely be the Warriors pick if they win the lottery and choose not to trade down in the draft.

There needs to be a major emphasis placed on the possibility of the Dubs trading this pick altogether. But, if they do decide to hang onto the top pick, Edwards seems to be their guy.

Edwards is about as dynamic as any other prospect in his class. He has a broad, muscular frame for a shooting guard and can score from most spots on the floor. There is some work to do on his shooting and ball-handling ability but under the right guidance, he can be a lethal scorer at the NBA level.

As for the defensive end, there are concerns about his energy level and enthusiasm. Nonetheless, his physical build gives him raw potential as a defender and it’s possible his lack of fire on defense last season was due to him carrying a heavy load for Georgia.

The Warriors wouldn’t need Edwards to save their franchise. Instead, he would play a smaller role in the second unit. Convincing a top prospect to buy into such a role could be difficult but there is a successful future lined up.

If Edwards plays at a high level, it would only be a matter of time before the torch is passed to him. A little bit of patience could go a long way for Edwards and the Dubs.
