The Golden State Warriors should want to trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo, but signing him as a free agent sounds even more enticing.

Every team in the NBA will want Giannis Antetokounmpo if he hits the open market in 2021. The Warriors, like the Raptors, have an interest that’s not a “secret.” Shocker.

At this point, any team’s interest in the reigning MVP shouldn’t come as a surprise.

The Warriors, given Giannis’ relationship with Stephen Curry and the team’s proven ability to win, seem like the quintessential landing spot. They should be the frontrunners, but they’d have to do quite a bit of retooling before signing a player of his caliber.

Antetokounmpo has continued to improve his game and has almost transcended into the best player on the planet. To some, he already is. After all, it’s not just any player that has analysts questioning whether or not the Warriors should deal five-time All-Star Klay Thompson for.

Giannis is a special type of player and could become the greatest to ever play the game. He’s currently averaging 29.6 points and 13.7 rebounds, both the highest per-game average of his career.

Combine that with almost six assists per game and a career-high 1.4 threes per game, and you have a player that’s extremely lethal from any area on the floor. Defensively, he’s just as good. We know Giannis will be the best player in a few seasons.

The interest in his will be unparalleled.

If he says he’s leaving Milwaukee, every team will want a meeting the young superstar. He’s the future of the franchise. Given all they’ve done in the past five seasons, the Warriors have proven to be the league’s golden standard.

Although teams like Toronto can provide the stability and financial prowess, the Warriors can take that and double the offer by having a good friend and two-time MVP on their roster.
