Use, don’t trade their draft pick

The Warriors have exceptions they can use if they want to enhance their roster for the short-term future.

They should use their 2020 top-five pick to build on their long-term future. While there isn’t a Zion Williamson-like star in this draft class, Anthony Edwards, James Wiseman, and LaMelo Ball are all solid picks that have a clear upside.

Each, aside from Ball, has been rumored to be atop Golden State’s big board. We really would need which pick they have before assuming who they’ll select, but the fact of the matter is that they should use the pick to snag a top-tier prospect.

Both Curry and Thompson are aging, and they’ll only be in their respective primes for a few more seasons. The Warriors need to find their next wave of superstar talent, and with this gap year, they have a perfect opportunity to capitalize on their own misfortune.

Getting a solid prospect should be the move after hopefully winning the lottery.
