The Golden State Warriors, as they currently are constructed, won’t be a title contender next season, but this offseason could change everything.

There’s no denying this season was a struggle for the Golden State Warriors.

As they watched Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry sit sidelined for most of the season, the team continued to feel the pain of their injuries with multiple five-plus-game losing streaks setting in while D’Angelo Russell led the franchise.

It was a pattern that fans will hope changes next season as they return Thompson, Curry, and also a rested Draymond Green.

The team will have a few wildcards that they may be able to count on to get the job done, but who knows if Andrew Wiggins, Kevon Looney, and Eric Paschall can help elevate the Warriors to that next level like Andre Iguodala and a slew of talented veterans did in 2015.

With little playoff experience among the bunch, it’s hard to assume this group will immediately be title contenders next season. However, there will be players that could enter the organization that would fill those holes and great a locker room that’s experienced.

That said, while Curry, Thompson and Green have been enough in the past, the trio, mainly Draymond Green, have certainly seen their play drop.

With an enhanced Western Conference led by the two superstar duos in Los Angeles, Golden State may need to round out their roster with experienced talent in order to be among the best of the conference.

The one player that should be at the top of the Warriors’ free agency plans is Marc Gasol. Gasol has won Defensive Player of the Year. He’s won a title. He’s been an Olympian. There isn’t much in the basketball world that Gasol hasn’t done.
