3 reasons the Golden State Warriors shouldn’t want a return to play
The team’s priorities should be elsewhere
The Golden State Warriors also shouldn’t necessarily want a restart for the other eight teams because quite frankly their priorities should be elsewhere given that they’ll have a guaranteed top-five pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.
There’s also free agency details that still need to be hammered out.
With the Andre Iguodala-created trade exception totaling over $17 million and the mid-level exception at their disposal, the Warriors can have an active free agency period without necessarily increasing their luxury tax bill.
They have some big moves to make especially since they’re going to consider trading the pick. Those need to be the priority, not preparing to go play in a mini-camp with a few potential games for their young players attached as well.
It’s not a bad idea, and the upside is clear. But, for the Warriors, they need to work on their future more than a little development towards their youth that could also be done at the team’s practice facilities in the Bay Area.
