The Chicago bubble will give the Golden State Warriors a free trial to gain some valuable development for their eventual playoff run.

The need for the bottom-eight teams to finish the 2019-20 NBA season doesn’t seem to outweigh the potential risk for players to be exposed to COVID-19. However, the Golden State Warriors have stated they will participate in Chicago if the second bubble is passed.

According to Jackie MacMullen, the league has engaged in serious discussions to conduct a min-training camp in Chicago for the non-Orlando teams. While there isn’t much to gain from this experiment, the Warriors can use it to their advantage.

Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson weren’t going to play even if the franchise qualified for the high-stakes Orlando bubble. As a result, it feels certain the Splash Brothers will sit out of this event as well. It’s probably safe to assume Draymond Green will follow along.

This leaves the question, who will play for the Dubs in Chicago? The most notable names remaining are Andrew Wiggins and Eric Paschall. These two will play a big role in whatever success the team experiences next season so getting a leg up on the competition and honing their craft in Chicago could pay dividends.

Paschall is coming off a surprising rookie season while Wiggins is preparing to battle for his reputation. Both need to prove their worth to the franchise and dominating in Chicago is an easy way to establish their value.

Marquese Chriss is another player who will be looking to play at a high-level. Chriss had an outstanding few games before the season was suspended. With expectations of Chriss playing in the starting lineup next year, it’s vital he continues to show signs of improvement.

Of course, players on the fringe of remaining on the roster such as Ky Bowman, Damion Lee, and Dragan Bender will have the motivation to go all-out. The rookie, Jordan Poole, will also want to use this training camp as a chance to improve.

The young core has a great opportunity to benefit from playing in Chicago. Their developments will directly impact the Warriors performances next season.
