The Golden State Warriors will have a top-five pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, and guard Killian Hayes could be one of many prospects they’re intrigued by.

It’s a mystery who is sitting atop the Golden State Warriors big board. After a 15-50 season, finishing as the worst team in the West, the Warriors will be looking to get a player they can develop into the team’s next superstar.

With Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson combining for five games in the 2019-2020 season, one reason the Dubs won just 15 games, the Warriors don’t necessarily need a player that can immediately contribute.

The Warriors need a player they feel comfortable handing the keys of the team to after the Stephen Curry era ends.

Is that player shooting guard Anthony Edwards? LaMelo Ball? James Wiseman? There are a few names you might not have heard of like Killian Hayes and Deni Avdija, two of the draft’s top international prospects.

They’ve also reportedly been high on Tyrese Haliburton. According to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, the Warriors have met with top prospects LaMelo Ball and James Wiseman already as well.

French point guard Killian Hayes is next on their list.

“He won’t do Cleveland, for sure. It’s no secret they are not interested in a guard, so I spoke with them and the chances they draft a guard are really slim. Killian should interview with Minnesota and Golden State, though,” Hayes’ agent  Yann Balizoukou told the French podcast “Envergure.”

During his ten games with ratiopharm Ulm in the EuroCup, Hayes shot 45.5% from the field and 39% from downtown. Averaging over 12 points per game, the 18-year-old has a chance to be one of the best prospects in the draft.

The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor called Hayes the draft’s top prospect. He also noted that the young guard is developing his game after MVP candidate and Rockets’ guard James Harden, one of the league’s most elusive scorers.

If Hayes can get to that level, he could be the best player this draft has to offer. That said, let’s hope this interview goes well and Golden State moves up the international prospect up their draft board.
