Kelly Oubre Jr.

As we noted a few days ago, Kelly Oubre Jr. may be the perfect target for the Golden State Warriors.

His youth, his ceiling, and his all-around playstyle would be the perfect fit for a team that craves shooting and athleticism. After being traded from Washington, Oubre Jr. took his game to the next level. In Phoenix, the 24-year-old has thrived.

An athletic 6-foot-7, Oubre Jr. averaged a career-high 18.7 points per game this past season. He shot 45% from the field and 35% from downtown, making 1.9 triples per game. All four of those were the best of his five-year career.

With untapped potential, Oubre Jr. could continue to blossom. Like with a Smart, a lineup with Oubre Jr., Wiggins and Green in the backcourt would be scary. The shooting and spacing that he’d help create would open lanes and opportunities for the Splash Brothers.

Oubre Jr. is young. He’s talented, and he’s improving. The cost is what may be a big concern as the forward may require more than just the Dubs’ 2020 first-round pick. Given that he’s a free agent and could just be a one-year rental with no real playoff experience, a first for Oubre sounds fair.
