The Golden State Warriors are going to prioritize signing a backup point guard this offseason. Here are five options they should explore.

The 2019-2020 season did not go as planned for the Golden State Warriors.

They won just 15 games, playing 65 in total. The NBA’s worst team and the only franchise out of playoff contention when the league was suspended in mid-March, Golden State will bounce back this next season.

The silver linings that came from this season combined with a 2020 first-round pick and two high-value exceptions will provide them all they need to get back to the top of the West.

Most importantly, the team will have a healthy Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry. Despite a healthy roster, this team may still need a bit more, especially as far as depth is considered.

According to The Athletic’s Anthony Slater (subscription required), the Dubs will prioritize adding a backup point guard, a position they’ll desperately need to fill in order to maintain leads and keep Stephen Curry off the court 35 minutes per game.

What are their options? What could that $17.2 million trade exception and the lesser mid-level exception get them? That said, let’s dive into five options that Warriors explore to shore up their backcourt this offseason.
