Marc Gasol

A three-time All-Star center, Gasol has spent most of his career with the Memphis Grizzlies. That is, until he was traded to the Raptors in the 2018-2019 season who coincidentally went on to win the NBA championship.

Gasol was an instrumental piece in the Raptors defeating Golden State in the 2019 NBA Finals. Gasol’s ability to switch onto guards and shoot from deep almost forced Nurse’s hands when it came to playing him big minutes.

When Gasol departed Memphis, he was averaging 15.7 points per game and shooting 44.4% from the field. His shooting has stayed relatively consistent since the trade, but he is seeing almost ten minutes less per game than usual, hurting his scoring.

Gasol is aging, and the Raptors, without Kawhi, aren’t the threat they were a season ago. A free agent in a few months, there’s no reason he couldn’t bring his talents to the Bay Area.

Gasol, given his newfound shooting and defense (being a former Defensive Player of the Year), would be welcome in Golden State. For the mid-level exception, Gasol would strengthen the team’s frontcourt.
