3 reasons the Warriors will bounce back stronger than ever in 2021
Trade/Free Agent Acquisitions
Because of the trade that the Golden State Warriors made last season with the Memphis Grizzles for Andre Iguodala, the Warriors received a traded player exemption worth the amount of Iguodala’s contract of $17.2 million.
Also because of COVID-19 the NBA has pushed back the TPE expiration date to October 24.
They would be wise to push for a high-value target worth that much money. If they do not, the TPE will expire and go unused. If they do, the money will not count against their salary cap for the remainder of the season.
That is, if Joe Lacob and company feel that player is worth it compared to the projected impact on the franchise.
Added to possible trade acquisitions, there is a high potential that the Warriors attack the free-agent market this year. There are several names on the list that would be willing and enjoy the time in Golden State. The Warriors just need to make their move and not let it expire.
It will definitely be hard to be worse than the franchise was last season. I am not saying that they will compete for another championship next year, but when all of these come together, it will not be out of the question for the team from California.
