Warriors Draft: First-round talents at 48 — Immanuel Quickley, Kentucky

The junior from the University of Kentucky has certainly made a name for himself in the last two years. In his freshman year, he was a very average player that has come out of Kentucky, but he exploded his sophomore year.

The 6-foot-3 guard could be an ideal back up for Klay Thompson. Last season, Quickley averaged 16.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 0.9 steals per game. He also only averaged 1.6 turnovers per game in 33.0 minutes per game.

Quickley thrived from the free-throw line shooting almost 93%, and he even showed success from the field shooting 41%. Behind the arc might be his most impressive though, he shoots 42.8% from the three-point line.

The consensus between the SEC coaches was that Quickley should have won the “SEC Player of the Year” award. That became a reality when he was awarded that high honor. In a league with Anthony Edwards, the potential first pick in the draft, Quickley beat him out.
