Gary Trent Jr.

Fans have gone from not knowing who Gary Trent Jr. is to hailing him as the next top-tier shooting guard in the NBA. Standing 6-foot-5, Trent Jr. was originally a second-round draft pick coming out of Duke.

His rookie season, Trent Jr. averaged 2.7 points per game. He kicked that up to 8.7 per game this season. In the bubble, he’s taken his game to a new level, averaging 18.0 points per game and almost five threes.

More specifically, Trent Jr. has averaged 4.8 threes per game on 57% from deep. He’s played just six games which shows a small sample size, but if he somehow keeps this up, he’ll certainly be a household name in no time.

Trent Jr.’s Trail Blazers, led by Damian Lillard, have a chance to pull off a historic upset if they find their way to the 8th seed, taking on what would be a heavy favorite in the LA Lakers.

Then will be his time to shine. For now, he’s blown past every expectation and has cemented himself as the perfect third man to the elite duo of Lillard and CJ McCollum.
