3. Zach Lavine

If the Golden State Warriors were to gamble on adding a third guard to their already star rotation of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson – Zach Lavine would be the perfect finishing piece to create a dominant three-headed monster in the backcourt.

Lavine proved himself as an elite scorer this season. He averaged a career-high 25.2 points and had six games of 40+ points. Lavine is capable of creating his own shot from anywhere on the floor – shooting efficiently from all three levels.

Despite his talents, the Chicago Bulls fell to 10th place in the East. Frustration quickly built up for Lavine and as the Bulls move forward with their head coach Jim Boylen – it’s becoming increasingly likely Lavine forces his way out of Chicago.

The price to acquire a 24-year old blooming star is steep. Golden State would have to sacrifice a number of assets – potentially even the newly acquired Andrew Wiggins or a collection of draft picks. However, Lavine is set to be a top-level offensive player for years to come and is absolutely worth the cost.

Obviously, having three guards could create issues. But, Thompson has the size to defend most small forwards and the offensive output of Curry/Thompson/Lavine should be enough to tip the scales in their favor. All the Dubs would need to do is acquire a reliable rim protector to perfect this lineup.
