Draymond Green

The Golden State Warriors aren’t going to move on from Draymond Green, but as he ages into his early 30s, his contract is just going to continue to get more undesirable.

The heart of the defense and emotional leader of the franchise, it’s hard to put a specific price on Green, but given his numbers, it’s tough to say he’s worth over $20 million. Towards the end of his deal, the team will be paying him almost $30 million per year.

While he’s the fourth-highest paid player now, his salary does increase drastically. Green is important; no one is saying he’s not. But, when it was hopeful that Green would step up without Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant, he didn’t.

His numbers this season did rival those of last season but they’re still not that of a player that should even be seeing an eight-figure deal. Over the 65-game season, Green played in 43 games, averaging 8.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 6.2 assists.

Those are solid numbers for a do-it-all player like Green, but to really earn his contract, he must get back to the Defensive Player of the Year that was averaging around 15/8/8. Let’s hope he can reach those standards he set upon himself this coming season.
