Andrew Wiggins
The Warriors brought in Andrew Wiggins midway through the season. It had many people shaking their heads not understanding why Golden State didn’t wait to see the three All-Stars on the court at the same time.
It seemed as though the Warriors really wanted that 2021 first-round pick, one that is top-three protected. Now, with Wiggins, they have to decide if they want to keep him for the long haul. The 25-year-old agreed to a max-level extension back in 2017.
He’ll make over $33 million in the 2022-2023 season. For the Warriors, a player making that type of money and not averaging 28 points per game or being an extremely versatile stud could be an issue.
Wiggins is the only player that we expect to not finish out his contract in Golden State, partly because of his contract size and partly because of his fit on the roster.
That said, it wouldn’t be overly shocking, like NBC’s Tom Haberstroh notes, for the team to deal him this offseason.
