Success

Career success isn’t always the best indication of who is the best in the league right now. After all, no one would consider Andre Iguodala a better player than Paul George although Iggy has three rings. It’s the same concept.

We’re not saying that Curry is a better player than Lillard right now because of his three rings. We’re saying it look at Curry has done without Kevin Durant.

Although Klay Thompson and CJ McCollum both provide different strengths to their star point guard, Curry, with Durant basically out the last 11 games of the playoffs, put up 32.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 6.3 assists.

That’s a stat line that, while he came up short in the Finals, still showed how dominant he can be.

He’s that good, and if Lillard can continue his absolute dominance well in the playoffs when he’ll be taking on top-tier defenders playing at their highest level, we’ll have to reconsider this point.

Until then, Curry will still have the edge in recent success as the unanimous leader of his team.
