Ricky Rubio

Ricky Rubio is one of the several players that NBC Sports suggested as possible trade exception targets.

There’s no denying his craftiness helped the Phoenix Suns become a playoff-contending franchise. While Devin Booker did the heavy lifting, the Suns offense ran smoothly, and Rubio had a part in that.

Averaging 8.8 assists per game, the second-highest of his career, Rubio finally was able to match his playmaking with his shooting efficiency, notching career highs in both field goal percentage and three-point percentage.

Set to make $17 million next season and over that the following year, Rubio would likely be a one-year add as they’d look to get off his contract before it truly hits the books. This would be a big splash trade that could pay dividends.

However, scoring just 13 points per game and not considered a star in the league, Rubio would still be a relatively low-profile addition. That said, alongside Curry and Thompson, Rubio’s playmaking could take their offense to the next level, especially in late-game situations.
