Damian Lillard went off, taking down the Lakers in Game 1, but Kenny Smith may have gone a bit too far, bringing Stephen Curry’s name into the conversation.

Did Kenny Smith forget who Stephen Curry is?

Well, he obviously didn’t, but he may have forgotten just how good he is. Smith, who is a host for TNT’s “Inside the NBA,” basically questioned whether Curry could hit shots from where Lillard was drilling them against the Lakers.

To be fair, Lillard, who carried the Blazers to the postseason, was an absolute monster once again, putting up over 30 including a dagger three from just feet inside the halfcourt line. However, we’re talking about Stephen Curry here.

Lillard, this season, had his first year shooting over 40% from deep. Curry has been doing that his entire career and will likely breeze through the most three-pointers in a career within the next few seasons.

That said, it didn’t take long for the Warriors two-time MVP point guard to remind Kenny “The Jet” Smith who is the league’s best shooter.

Let’s just say Smith quickly made a joke out of his words and Curry’s response.

Also, we just wanted to add Choc’s tweet in there as well. While Lillard has pulled up past 35 feet a few times, there has never really been a need for Curry to do so, having played with Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson the past few seasons.

On a team with those three superstars, a 40-foot bomb is a bad shot no matter who is taking it. Even if it goes in 30% of the time, it’s probably still a shot the Warriors wouldn’t want any one of their stars taking.

As for Curry, he should still easily be considered the league’s best point guard.

For how long many think that with Curry playing just five games this season is up in the air, but until Lillard’s Blazers don’t get swept by Curry’s Durant-less Warriors, then this really isn’t a question.
