The Golden State Warriors have a 40% chance at a top-three pick and a 14% at the No. 1 overall pick. However, if it does land in the top two, they should trade it.

There’s no denying the Golden State Warriors aren’t your usual team to be entering the NBA Draft Lottery with the highest odds at the No. 1 overall pick.

With Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson combining for just five games, the Warriors struggled this season. D’Angelo Russell failed to win games theoretically by himself and then was traded for Andrew Wiggins and a 2021 first-round pick.

The Warriors sad season resulted in 15 games and 50 losses. They went from five straight NBA Finals to tied for the highest odds for the top pick at 14%. They don’t need to necessarily actually use the pick though.

The Warriors will consider trading the pick, but they need to know it’s valued first. It will be a top-five pick, but where in the top five will be revealed later today. Where it lands within that range will matter.

That said, let’s dive into three reasons why the Warriors should trade the pick only if it lands within the top two.
