San Antonio Spurs

It would make a ton of sense for the San Antonio Spurs to want to move up in the 2020 NBA Draft.

Unlike many of the teams that came before them, they have the quintessential player to package in a trade that also includes their pick. Rudy Gay, a veteran forward that has been the model of consistency, could put the Warriors over the edge.

The Spurs also have the No. 11 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. Both of those assets for the No. 2 pick seem like exactly what Golden State would crave. While it’s not too much in return, the pick doesn’t have a guaranteed star attached to it.

This is a weak draft class, and the Warriors won’t be seeing too many teams tossing the barn for the pick.

That’s why this could work, especially if the Warriors player, a guard like Tyrese Haliburton or Tyrese Maxey, were to fall in the draft. It’s one of the only clear win-win opportunities.

However, this deal doesn’t bode well for the team wanting a future superstar like Giannis, Bradley Beal, or Joel Embiid. This would likely be something sought out after all other options were expended.
