Joel Embiid
Changes will be made in Philadelphia before next season. They have two superstars. Ben Simmons missed the team’s first-round series versus the Celtics, and it quickly ended as the Sixers were absolutely dominated in the sweep.
Embiid may have averaged 30 points and 12 rebounds, but that wasn’t enough to even win one game, losing by at least eight in three of the four outings.
The Process is still thriving in Philadelphia as they’ve seen success and made the playoffs, but getting valuable assets for Embiid may be a move that leads to unlocking Simmons’ full potential and adding more moldable players.
The three-time All-Star is under contract until after the 2022-2023 season. That said, Andrew Wiggins plus both picks, including the No. 2 overall pick, seems like quite the load for a player that had his worst season in the last three years this past season.
The issue in Philadelphia surrounds Al Horford and Tobias Harris’ contracts, but dealing Embiid could free up money for high-level rookies and other contributing veterans along with opening the floor up more for Ben Simmons.
The moves Philadelphia makes this offseason could be rash so anything could be possible for Golden State.
