Andrew Wiggins

The Golden State Warriors are planning to keep Andrew Wiggins; they’ve said they intend to start him at the three in 2021. How likely that is is a different question entirely as Wiggins is the most likely Warriors to be dealt this offseason.

He was brought in with a 2021 first-round pick in exchange for D’Angelo Russell among other moving pieces. The former No. 1 overall pick has value, but given his contract, Wiggins will be tough to move.

The Warriors should move on, but it’d be easier said than done to get a favorable deal done and get his contract off the books. Wiggins came in time to play 12 games for Golden State. They knew what they were getting before he took the court.

Wiggins is an athletic, three-point shooting small forward that struggles defensively. He’s a big body and should be athletic enough to play decent defense on bigger guards like Kawhi Leonard or LeBron James.

However, set to make over $33 million in the 2022-2023 season, the Warriors need to find him a new home.

Combine Wiggins, the No. 2 and the 2021 first for a Beal or Joel Embiid-type player should be something Golden State looks in to, but it seems doubtful that anything will come to fruition.
