The Golden State Warriors have the second-overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft and are reportedly planning on drafting a player, not trading the pick.

Despite what most may think, the Golden State Warriors may end up keeping their No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.

With the circulating rumors of which superstar they’ll target first, the Warriors have every reason to deal the pick. They have a trade exception they could use for a player making under $17.2 million or as a bridge option to bring in a top-tier superstar.

But, that may not be too realistic if general manager Bob Myers believes the future of the franchise can be found with that second pick. Mercury News’ Wes Goldberg reported that the Warriors plan to use the pick, not trade it.

While many analysts don’t believe that high-level, Zion Williamson-like talent can be found in this draft, it is laced with high-risk, high-reward type players. Even later in the lottery, all signs point to a guard like Tyrese Maxey being available still.

Trading back would be smart, and trading out would be smart; but if they find the right prospect, using the pick could be the best possible option. That said, let’s dive into three prospects they’ve shown interest in that could be atop the Dubs big board.
