3 trades that would prove the Golden State Warriors are playing chess not checkers
Adding one of the best do-it-all players
Marcus Smart is one of the most disruptive players in the NBA.
He’s just one of the players that you’ll always want on your team. Whether it’s collecting loose balls or challenging himself with the opponent’s best premier attacker, Smart has created a name for himself with his hard work and determination to improve.
Coming off the best season of his career, Smart’s contract would fit under the Warriors trade exception.
With a lottery pick to help supplement the Warriors dealing their No. 2 selection, Golden State would be able to secure a key addition while also keeping a solid pick in the draft. Smart is everything the Warriors could ask for in a role player.
With 21 points including five triples in the Celtics opening blowout victory in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, Smart has hit a career-high 2.3 triples per game. Despite shooting over 40% just once in his career, Smart neared 35% from deep.
He’s a solid shooter and a better defender.
He’s everything Golden State needs in a player that could potentially take this team to the next level, and his addition would help fill the Warriors’ most obvious flaws.
