Bringing in Rudy Gay

While Rudy Gay is no Marcus Smart, the Warriors could get a much player pick at No. 11 than 14. The second tier of the 2020 NBA Draft is deep and a top talent could easily fall all the way to No. 11.

On top of getting a player like Devin Vassell or Cole Anthony, the Warriors would also reel in Rudy Gay, a forward that’s been the definition of consistency throughout his career would be another player that’d fall under the team’s trade exception.

The 34-year-old Gay will be entering his 15th season in the NBA and has averaged double figures in each and every one.

While he was at 10.8 points per game this season, per 36 minutes, Gay was still at 17.9 points. A solid rebounder, a capable defender, and a solid shooter, Gay has everything Golden State needs in a player that could round out their small-ball lineup.

With the Spurs needing a star and not a second-tier player, this trade could be a win-win for both organizations.
