Fact or fiction: Analyzing 12 Golden State Warriors trade rumors
By Tony Pesta
8. Aaron Gordon – Fact
Aaron Gordon is another versatile big that can help the Golden State Warriors compete next season. He offers great athleticism and a decent ability to put the ball on the floor and create his own shot. Though he suffers on the defensive end there is potential for him to have a positive impact in the Warriors team-oriented system.
Gordon averaged 14.4 points this season and it’s becoming clear he won’t be a cornerstone for the Orlando Magic heading into whatever stage of the rebuild they are in. A chance to ditch Gordon and acquire some new, young talent would be all it takes to pry Gordon from the Magic. To top it off, Gordon fits under the Dubs’ $17 million dollar trade exception – making this potential deal a reality.
In Golden State, Gordon would act as a complementary piece to Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins. He would be an instant threat in screen-and-rolls while also being an easy target for Draymond Green to throw his patented lobs to the weak side.
Gordon shot just 30.8 percent from the 3-point line last season but has solid mechanics that bring some optimism. He won’t solve the Warriors shooting woes in the frontcourt but he would likely be their best shooter for his position. Gordan drilled the same amount of 3-pointers this season as Paschall and Green combined.
