5. Buddy Hield – Fiction

Fans are excited by the thought of Buddy Hield running alongside the Splash Brothers. A flamethrower from the 3-point line in his own right, Hield could help light it up for the Golden State Warriors.

Hield has proven himself in the last two seasons as a premier 3-point shooter. He has drilled over 500 total 3-pointers since 2018, the second-most in the NBA behind only James Harden. What sets him apart is his efficiency, clipping around 40 percent of these attempts.

This is an impressive feat for Hield and makes him an interesting guard to pair with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. Though the trio would be vulnerable defensively, their output on offense should counteract this area of weakness.

However, there is almost no way for the Warriors to acquire Hield due to his contract. He doesn’t fit under their trade exception and he isn’t worth giving up Andrew Wiggins or Draymond Green. There is a potential ‘bridge option’ the franchise could explore but that seems to be a stretch of the imagination.
