Warriors: Dennis Schroder must emerge as a possible trade target
A player that’d fit under the team’s trade exception, Dennis Schroder should be a top target for the Golden State Warriors this offseason.
Dennis Schroder has been coming off the bench for the Oklahoma City Thunder. In limited minutes, he’s been absolutely incredible for the Thunder in the postseason, and the Golden State Warriors should be taking note.
A team that has a plethora of draft picks over the next half a decade and could opt to blow it up and start fresh with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
Oklahoma City pushed Houston to the limits, reaching a Game 7. If they look to deal Chris Paul after their first-round exit, the Warriors could hope on the firesale, one which Schroder would likely be apart of.
Schroder put himself on the map of every team looking to improve this offseason.
The Warriors are one of them as Schroder would be a terrific addition to their second unit. They’re looking for a backup point guard, and Schroder would be a perfect fit, commanding and dominating the second unit for the world-class Warriors.
Schroder also proved that he can thrive alongside a top-tier point guard, playing late-game minutes with Chris Paul on the court as well. Schroder manned up and guarded James Harden as well, using his quickness to an advantage.
Schroder had back-to-back games in which he willed the Thunder to victory.
Initially down 0-2, Schroder had a 30-point performance and followed it up with a 29-point performance. While he’s cooled off, Schroder was averaging over 18 points per game through six games in the opening round.
With Golden State looking to get back into Finals contention, Schroder has everything that it’d take to captain their second unit.
He’s a proven scorer, and while his percentages could be better, Schroder should be a cheap addition, one that may involve a switch with the Warriors No. 2 overall pick.
The Thunder own two first-round picks in the next two drafts. They have the assets to bring in No. 2 and deal Schroder, something that both should look into as Schroder may be a quintessential fit in the Bay Area.
