The Golden State Warriors have decisions to make this offseason as many league insiders still believe the team will trade their No. 2 overall pick.

After the Golden State Warriors were officially awarded the No. 2 overall pick, the trade rumors started. They were justified through as this draft doesn’t have that high-level potential as it did a season ago.

There is no Zion Williams. There’s not even a Ja Morant. It’ll be Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball as the top picks with James Wiseman and a few other prospects potentially making a jump into the top five.

For Golden State, they do not need to use the pick. They have young prospects in Jordan Poole and Eric Paschall. Unless they truly believe Edwards could be the future of the franchise like they’ve noted, the prospects that will be there at No. 2 won’t intrigue them.

Edwards is the projected top pick, and despite him potentially being off the board, the Warriors may still use the pick.

However, while they may throw smokescreens that they plan to select at No. 2, many around the league still expect them to deal the pick or at least combine it in a deal for a superstar that could help take this team to the Finals in 2021.

“People around the league are unanimous in thinking that the Warriors will do their best to pull off a trade,” ESPN’s Tim Bontemps wrote.

He did continue his section on Golden State by mentioning New Orleans Pelicans’ guard Jrue Holiday, a player that hasn’t received too much interest as a trade target, as a realistic option for the Warriors.

There are a plethora of players that the Warriors could target.

The list is long and includes superstars like Joel Embiid and Bradley Beal. While the likelihood that either is dealt at a cheap cost is low, the Warriors have the assets to bring them in, a package that would include the second-overall pick.

Even Giannis Antetokounmpo could be a trade target for Golden State.

That said, no one quite knows what Golden State plans to do or what will be available, so much of what happens from here till October is speculation.
