The Golden State Warriors fanbase should’ve lost hope in Jordan Poole to start the season. The rookie completely restored it prior to the NBA’s suspension.

Over the last few years, the Warriors have drafted well, but they haven’t necessarily stuck gold with their late first-round picks.

Kevon Looney, Damian Jones, and Jacob Evans just haven’t panned out to be the impactful players Golden State hoped for. Looney has a three-year deal that’s worth over eight figures, but he certainly doesn’t have too much star potential.

Their most recent first-round draft, Jordan Poole, has that “it” factor. He just has to put it all together.

While he may still be a year or two out from putting it all together, Poole, at the very least, restored hope in himself to end the season. Watching their season be cut by 17 games, the last few weeks will be highlighted by Poole’s terrific play.

He notched double figures in 12 of the Warriors’ last 13 games. It was more than that though. It was his leadership mixed with his efficient shooting. Poole, for that stint, showed what he’s capable of.

Here is just a quick reminder of what the former University of Michigan standout did to end the quarter against the Denver Nuggets, a team currently taking on the Los Angeles Clippers in the Western Conference Semifinals.

Poole averaged a mere 8.8 points per game his rookie season.

That’s bound to improve as he’ll have a consistent role on the second unit this coming season. That role may only be available because the 21-year-old shot 47% from the field, averaging 1.7 threes per game.

It’s tough to overstate how much of a difference this was from the start of the season for Poole. Poole shot 28% from the field in his first 20 games in the league.

It was ugly for Poole, but after a successful stint in the G-League, he bounced back with the playmaking that the Warriors knew he had in him. Now, he’ll have a shot at big-time minutes on a championship-caliber team.

That said, hope has certainly been restored in the up-and-coming guard.
