One Golden State Warriors trade target that isn’t getting near enough attention as a potential franchise-changing addition is Jrue Holiday.

There’s no denying that the Golden State Warriors are primed for one of the most active offseasons in team history.

They have to reconstruct their team to be a Finals contender, and it’s difficult to define what all that details. General manager Bob Myers along with majority owner Joe Lacob have consistently made the right decisions when creating such a roster.

They’ll still have Stephen Cury and Klay Thompson on the roster. Since the two combined for five games during the 2019-2020 season, the Warriors missed out on the playoffs, ending their streak of five consecutive Finals runs.

In return, they were awarded the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, an asset they’re expected to trade. Players like Bradley Beal and Joel Embiiid are getting the bulk of the excitement in the Bay Area, but there could be one name we’ve been completely overlooking.

“The most gettable name might wind up being New Orleans Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday, but he turned 30 in June and can hit free agency in 2021. Celtics guard Marcus Smart was mentioned as another good fit, yet it’s hard to see Boston being willing to move him,” ESPN’s Tim Bontemps wrote.

That said, let’s dive into three reasons why the Pelicans guard would be a perfect trade target for the Golden State Warriors.
