6. Detroit Pistons
The Detroit Pistons are a team without much to offer the Golden State Warriors. There is little reason for the Dubs to swing for Blake Griffin, an aging star on a $35 million dollar contract. Furthermore, they won’t be interested in taking a risk on Derrick Rose, a former MVP who’s health has made him painfully unreliable.
Instead, the Pistons would have to offer up a few role players in order to get the Dubs’ attention. An above-average 3-and-D player in Tony Snell and a pure shooter in Luke Kennard would be nice additions to the Warriors bench.
Snell averaged 8.0 points on 44.5 percent shooting this season while Kennard posted a career-high 15.8 points on a near 40 percent clip from deep. The two would add depth to the Dubs’ rotation but are they enough to warrant giving up Kevon Looney and the 2nd pick?
Obviously picking up the 7th pick here is key to making the deal work. The Warriors would gain two role players and still obtain a top-10 prospect. Nonetheless, this deal seems to be an odd one for both sides as neither party has expressed interest in negotiating a swap.
