It’s obvious the Golden State Warriors want to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo – but the two-time MVP isn’t available yet.

Over the last few months, we have heard numerous “Giannis to Golden State” rumors. From the moment we knew the Golden State Warriors would have a top pick in the 2020 NBA Draft – the Giannis Antetokoumpo trade scenarios began.

Since then, gossip has only grown stronger. The Dubs lucked out with the No. 2 overall pick while the Milwaukee Bucks imploded for the second straight year in the NBA Playoffs. With head coach Mike Budenholzer making questionable decisions and the front office failing to place a winning roster alongside their MVP – it’s easy to see how hearsay could start.

Despite some of the best packages available potentially being on the table – the Bucks are unlikely to part ways with Giannis anytime soon. This is because he is still on contract for one more season – giving them one final chance to convince the Greek Freak that Milwaukee is his rightful home.

The Bucks won’t have much cap space to work with but they will do everything they can to make Giannis feel wanted. All it will take is a triumphant run to a title – or at least the NBA Finals – to potentially woo him into another contract with the team. If that doesn’t work, a supermax filled with more money than any other team can offer him should do the trick.

Of course, the Warriors can give Giannis something he might not be able to obtain anywhere else: a championship. The Dubs have proven better than anyone that they can build a winning culture. This is the x-factor in bringing Antetokounmpo to the Bay.

Regardless, the Warriors will have to wait for their dream to be a reality. Unless Giannis forces his way out of Milwaukee prematurely, the Bucks will absolutely NOT trade him away. The earliest we see Giannis in a Warriors’ uniform is late 2021.
