The Golden State Warriors returned two of their own, Shaun Livingston and Leandro Barbosa, giving them roles in the team’s front office.

On Monday, according to NBC Sports’ Drew Shiller, the Golden State Warriors announced they’d be bringing back two veterans that helped kicked off their current dynasty.

Those two are former point guard Shaun Livingston and former Sixth Man of the Year Leandro Barbosa. Barbosa will re-join the organization as the player mentor coach, while Livingston’s title is director of players affairs and engagement.

This is a huge step for both players as they return to the Bay Area. The Warriors are bringing back ties to the start of their dynasty as they prepare for their next wave of young prospects to help keep the dynasty afloat after Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry are gone.

Led by rookie Eric Paschall and Jordan Poole along with two high-value draft picks in the next two seasons, the Warriors will have the players that they need to make sure stay engaged and continue to develop.

There’s no better player to make sure that happens than a veteran every player on the team already respects because of his on-court accomplishments and dedication to the game of basketball.

After Livingston’s stellar return following his supposed career-ending injury, he gained respect from both his teammates and others around the league. Livingston spent his last half a decade in the league with the Warriors.

As for Barbosa, he played two of his last three seasons in the NBA with the Warriors, starting one of 134 games. He was never the star of the team, but he did average over 14 points both seasons with Golden State.

Barbosa will be a player mentor coach. It sounds as though Barbosa will just be a lifeline for a player when they need either correcting or just how to navigate life in the NBA. It feels as though both will just be available assets for the youth wave brewing in the Bay Area.
