Draymond Green is at his best when he’s playing with the splash brothers, and the Golden State Warriors will get both back at full strength next season.

The only noise Draymond Green made this season was with his take on Devin Booker needing to leave the Suns. Green, for the Golden State Warriors, had one of the worst statistical seasons of his career.

It revealed one thing that most fans should’ve already known.

Without Klay Thompson or Stephen Curry, Green just isn’t that good. Now, while that sounds rough, there’s so much to praise Green for. He’s the emotional and defensive leader of the Warriors.

But, he’s not the superstar that going to help power the team to the next level. His struggles from deep make it even more difficult to gauge Green’s value. What we saw from him this season just wasn’t good enough.

Hope should be on the horizon though.

The splash brothers will both be back and at full strength this coming season. With Thompson and Curry both in action, Green’s numbers for the entirety of a season are much better. With Kevin Durant in the mix, Green’s numbers slowly dwindled as the team just has so much star power.

The 30-year-old averaged 8.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game. Given how he plays the game, those are not bad numbers.

However, before Durant joined the Warriors, Green, who was just finding his footing in the league, propelled the Warriors to the best record in league history, averaging 14.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 7.4 assists per game.

The biggest cause for concern is Green shooting as that season he was 38.8% from downtown, and he failed to hit even 28% this year.

That must improve, but he’s shown that he can be a great asset when he’s clicking with the splash brothers. There’s no reason to believe he can’t get back to a level similar to his 2015-2016 season.

Green has never been the most skilled offensive player, but this energy and his passion shine through when he’s active and engaged. With the team bracing for another championship-contending roster, Green’s game should come back to life next season as the Warriors do as well.
