The Golden State Warriors have kicked off a minicamp for the team to get back together and work on their craft, and it will include Jonathan Simmons.

On Wednesday, the Warriors began a two-week minicamp. The point of the minicamp is to get players back together and on the same page as the new season could commence in as little as five months.

While Stephen Curry and Draymond Green were excused from the camp, Klay Thompson is going to be there and will be working with his former teammates turned front office staffers Shaun Livingston and Leandro Barbosa.

There will be a plethora of new players that Thompson knows but hasn’t played with. Thompson missed all of the 2019-2020 season with a torn ACL, so he has yet to share a court for real minutes alongside the team’s 2019 draft picks.

However, there are up to five faces that weren’t on the team’s roster also allowed at the camp. Former Spur Jonathan Simmons is one of them.

After making a name for himself a few years ago in San Antonio, Simmons has jumped around from franchise to franchise, playing with the Orlando Magic and Philadelphia Sixers since his stint with the Spurs.

Simmons averaged 13.9 points per game with the Spurs one season. Since then and even before then, he had yet to average double figures in a season. His ascension was one of the season’s headlines.

According to NBC Sports’ Drew Shiller, Simmons will join the Warriors along with Jonathon Simmons, Jeremy Pargo, Zach Norvell Jr., Roger Moute a Bidias, and Ryan Taylor.

Novell Jr. and potentially Pargo are really the only couple notable names as the former was a star at Gonzaga for some time.

That said, I wouldn’t expect any of these five to actually crack the roster as Golden State would have to feel they’ve more valuable than a player already rostered. We’ll have more on the camp as it progresses throughout the next few weeks.
