The Golden State Warriors should want to trade their No. 2 overall pick, and this Bleacher Report-suggested trade is something they must consider.

Weeks ago, the Golden State Warriors were awarded the No. 2 overall pick. There were three teams tied for the highest odds at the top overall selection, and it was the Minnesota Timberwolves that fell in favor with the ping pong balls, selecting No. 1.

They’re expected to go with Anthony Edwards as the Wolves have their center and point guard of the future. Edwards is a high-ceiling winger that will be among the most athletic players in the draft. But, Edwards isn’t overly high on other team’s radar.

James Wiseman and LaMelo Ball are two players that have been ranked among the best prospects in the draft with the latter likely atop the big board for many different franchises.

While there is no Zion Williamson-like talent in this draft, Ball’s ceiling, if he can figure out his efficiency, makes him an elite target. New York and Cleveland are two teams that may look to trade for Ball.

That said, Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Wasserman gave a trade, one that sent the Warriors’ top pick to New York, that Golden State should consider. The only thing the Knicks return is the No. 2 overall pick.

He had the Warriors bringing back No. 8, No. 27, Dallas Mavericks 2021 first-round pick, and Frank Ntilikina. While many draft trades are for superstars and seem one-sided, this one would bring in a backup point guard, something the Warriors are going to prioritize this offseason.

They also get the No. 8 pick, one they could likely use on a prospect they love. The team is high on Deni Avdija and Tyrese Haliburton. With players like Obi Toppin and Wiseman out there, either player could easily drop to eight.

Aside from the defensive-minded Ntilikiina and a top-ten pick, the team gets an extra first-round pick and what will likely be a late 2021 first-round pick.

While Ball may be worth more, it’s a trade that parties should heavily consider.
