The Golden State Warriors’ minicamp is in full swing but the absences of Stephen Curry and Draymond Green are being felt.

Affectionately nicknamed the ‘Dubble’, minicamp has officially kicked off for the Golden State Warriors. Nearly every member of the team is in attendance as even Klay Thompson makes his long-awaited return to the court. However, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green will miss the camp in its entirety due to personal reasons.

Jordan Poole revealed that Green welcomed the newest member of his family recently and that is what has held him back from joining the team. Curry has been more secretive but we can assume he has a valid reason to be absent as well.

Nonetheless, their absences are being felt. The Warriors are gearing up for a rapid rebuild – looking to jump from the bottom of the league standings to the top in just a year’s notice. A healthy core of Thompson, Green and Curry should be enough to make them competitive – but chemistry is a valuable thing this team will be missing.

We have seen how even the most talented teams can crumble without proper chemistry together. Look at the LA Clippers, for example.

While the Warriors won’t have to worry about forming a relationship between their three-star players, they will have to find a way to rapidly build a bond between the supporting cast and the big-three.

Curry appeared in just one game with Andrew Wiggins last season while Green played fewer than 10 minutes with him. A majority of the roster is totally unfamiliar with Thompson and the rest of the Warriors core.

The 22 teams that traveled to Orlando had a valuable opportunity to practice together during the pandemic. For the Warriors, these last few months have been wasted from a team standpoint. The process of building chemistry will be made even tougher for them as Curry and Green are unable to attend the team’s first chance to practice together again.
