3. The simple option
When looking at both rosters, the most obvious and straightforward way to make a deal is to offer up Andrew Wiggins and the No. 2 overall pick for Victor Oladipo.
The Pacers would have to take on a bit of extra salary here as Wiggins is on a monstrous long-term deal. But, that’s the price of being forced to trade a disgruntled star. They still walk away with a solid building block in Wiggins, who is still only 25 years old.
Indiana also gets a chance to draft a top prospect and begin their rebuild. The Pacers have no current pick in the upcoming first round – giving them all the more reason to look for a deal here.
This trade would actually be difficult for the Warriors as the potential for Oladipo to leave in free agency would hinder their willingness to complete this deal. However, if they feel confident he can help them win a title next season – the price of winning a championship could be worth it. Just ask Toronto, who gladly took a one-year deal with Kawhi Leonard for the sweet feeling of winning it all.
