1. The future pick swap

This is the deal that the Golden State Warriors should feel most interested in – as a future pick swap could prove to be beneficial for the franchise moving forward.

Let’s face it, the Warriors picked a bad time to nearly win the NBA Draft Lottery. The upcoming class is weaker than normal and the No. 2 overall pick holds much less value than it otherwise would have.

In contrast, the 2021 NBA Draft is shaping up to be a strong one. Electric prospects like Cade Cunningham and Jalen Green headline the class, both seemingly with more superstar potential than anyone in the current draft.

Now, let’s break down why the Pacers and Warriors would be open to swapping picks here in the first place.

The Dubs hold Minnesota’s 2021 first round selection and this could prove to be valuable as the Wolves look to compete in a much tougher conference. There is a good chance the Wolves finish as a bottom three team with the best odds of winning next year’s lottery.

In exchange, the Warriors would get Indiana’s first round pick for 2021. It’s possible Indiana pushes themselves into the playoffs again with a solid roster around Andrew Wiggins – but a late first round pick is still worthy to the Dubs.

Most of all, this swap helps the Warriors hold onto their No. 2 overall pick. While the current class is weak, you can’t overstate the value of having a GUARANTEED top two pick with the new lottery system. There is no telling if the Wolves pick will pan out – but the Dubs DO know that their pick is in the top two.
