4. Tristan Thompson

I know what you’re thinking, after years of watching Tristan Thompson underperform in the NBA Finals (aside from a few key moments,) why on earth would the Golden State Warriors be interested in signing TT?

Well, rivalry aside, Thompson is a player who could actually benefit the Warriors. He brings a unique firey and energy to each game that makes him a constant producer. Thompson was towards the top of the league in offensive rebounding this season as he hauled in over 10 rebounds per game for the second straight year.

Thompson has embraced his role as the leader for a rebuilding team in Cleveland. He has rounded out his offensive game to include a few different go-to moves in the post, including a baby hook that was surprisingly efficient. Even more shocking, Thompson slowly expanded his range to the 3-point line this year, nailing 9-of-23 attempts.

A four-time Eastern Conference Champ, Thompson has all of the experience needed to fit in with the Warriors. Though he is a bit undersized, he is more than capable of playing the five due to his strength and mentality.

The Cavaliers are expected to attempt to keep Thompson on the roster – but their best offer of $9 million won’t be much higher than the Warriors mid-level exception. Perhaps Thompson will opt for a  smaller one-year deal with a much more competitive team.
