Golden State Warriors: 3 undervalued MLE targets
By Tony Pesta
2. Alec Burks
The Golden State Warriors and Alec Burks parted ways last season but there was always a feeling that Burks could wind up back in a Dubs’ jersey following his stint in Philadelphia.
Burks has become a valuable asset in today’s NBA as a versatile wing who can handle the ball. He thrives as a shot creator – ranking third in total scoring on the Warriors, despite playing less than 50 games. On the year, Burks averaged 16.1 points and 3.1 assists on close to 40 percent shooting from the 3-point line.
The Warriors will benefit from having a bit of extra depth at this position as Andrew Wiggins is their only reliable scorer at the wing. Having a player like Burks on the bench could make quite a difference throughout the length of a season.
Burks made just $2 million dollars this year with the Warriors. Signing him for the $6 million dollar mid-level exception would be a sizeable pay raise but he might be worth every penny.
