Marquese Chriss

Another player that won’t be on the hot seat this offseason but could be at risk of losing a starting spot will be Marquese Chriss.

Chriss joined Golden State last season, was eventually converted to a two-way role and then was brought back onto the 15-man roster. He’s projected to be the team’s starting center next season.

However, while Chriss does have upside as a defender and efficient scorer, he may not be the same dominant rim protector that Serge Ibaka, a player that could be added with the mid-level exception, would be.

There’s also a chance the Warriors opt to take James Wiseman in the upcoming draft.

Either addition may relegate Chriss to the second unit. For now, he’s got the role, and even after his best season since being rookie, Chriss may not have the same impact if both Curry and Thompson are on the court.

Chriss, Bowman, and Toscano-Anderson will likely still be on the team but their impact may take a toll as the team prepares to return to championship contention next season.
