7. Detroit Pistons – Obi Toppin, F
It’s not much of a secret that the Detroit Pistons are looking to clear their frontcourt and initiate a full rebuild. They already traded away two-time All-Star Andre Drummond and are shopping the market for Blake Griffin. In this event, Obi Toppin is an ideal replacement.
Toppin is arguably the most developed prospect in the lottery. At 23 years of age, he is older than 6 members of last year’s roster. His time in college played a huge role in making him a deadly offensive weapon.
As a redshirt sophomore in Dayton, Toppin posted 20.0 points and 7.5 rebounds on over 60 percent shooting from the floor and close to 40 percent shooting from deep. He is an easy fit to pair with Christian Woods in the Pistons’ backcourt and can spread the floor for Detroit.
Adding a player who is ready to score at a high-level will put the Pistons on a road back to competing for a playoff spot.
