The Golden State Warriors have the No. 2 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, and if they opt to trade back, their potential target has been revealed.

With the No. 2 pick in the late-November draft, the Golden State Warriors will have their options. Right now, many expect them to take LaMelo Ball, James Wiseman, Tyrese Haliburton or Deni Avdija.

The options don’t stop there as the team could opt to trade back, a strategy many would do if they had the keys to the franchise in their hands. If that’s the case, it may be time to add one more name to that list — Florida State standout Devin Vassell.

If they traded down, the Warriors would consider selecting shooting guard Devin Vassell, San Francisco Chronicle’s Connor Letourneau (premium content) reported Friday. He then continued with noting that Golden State could roll with Vassell at No. 2, but it’s unlikely.

Vassell, right now, isn’t considered to be a top-three pick.

However, his three-and-D nature and what he could immediately bring to the Warriors may propel him up a few spots on their big board. But, it’d be surprising if it were enough to make him worthy of being taken at No. 2.

Vassell is turning pro after his second season with the Seminoles, one in which he exploded onto the scene, averaging almost three times as many points per game as compared to his freshman season.

Playing almost 30 minutes per game, Vassell’s game really transformed in his second season. He averaged 1.5 threes per game on 41.5 percent from deep.

His scoring and his defense are what sets him apart from the pack. Vassell’s ceiling certainly isn’t that of Ball or Wiseman, but neither is his floor. He will have a solid career at the sport’s highest level.

That’s what likely intrigues Golden State as Vassell, at 6-foot-6, has similar to traits to another Bay Area legend, Klay Thompson. That said, he’ll be a top pick, and for a team not needing a superstar-caliber player, he’d be the perfect pick, just not at No. 2.
