Add depth to the frontcourt

The Golden State Warriors do not have much frontcourt depth. More specifically, the Warriors don’t have too much depth at center, the position Baynes plays. They have Marquese Chriss as the team’s only true center as Kevon Looney will be his backup.

They’ll need to add some talent at center, and Baynes would help give that depth. Given Looney’s injury history, having a third-string center or even a player to contribute 12-15 solid minutes and give a change of pace should be necessary for Golden State.

Baynes is not a long-term option like Chriss.

Before the next season commences, Baynes will be 34. Coming off the best season of his career, Baynes’ upside is still there, having scored 11.5 points per game with the Suns, almost double his previous career-high.

He was put in such a position because of Deandre Ayton’s suspension. Baynes also has playoff experience, having won a title during his time with the Spurs. The eight-year veteran would also add that experience and playoff expertise to their second unit.
