Thankfully, the Golden State Warriors will be granted access to in-person meetings and workouts with top 2020 NBA Draft prospects.

The 2019-20 NBA season has finally concluded after an unbelievable amount of planning and perfect execution from league officials/players across the board. Now, we enter the next stage of continuing spots during the pandemic, by granting access to lottery team like the Golden State Warriors to hold in-person NBA Draft workouts.

Originally, prospects were to record virtual workouts and interviews with teams. The problem here is that a few notable names like James Wiseman, Anthony Edwards, Obi Toppin and LaMelo Ball were unable to participate in these virtual combines – leaving the Warriors

There is no word yet on if these players will be able to attend in-person workouts but this new opportunity leaves us optimistic the Warriors will have another chance to watch some of their most coveted prospects workout with the team.

The importance of these workouts is elevated as opposed to other years. Prospects like Ball and Wiseman had their seasons cut short due to injury or controversy. Meanwhile, all NCAA prospects had their season end before March Madness could even begin.

Using these in-person combines to gauge the talent level could end up swaying the Warriors towards a certain prospect. Not to mention, the extended time off between last season and now will mean some prospects could look vastly better as they had so much additional time to improve.

The draft is roughly a month away and the Dubs are running out of time to make their final decision. Will they hold onto the pick themselves, or look to flip this asset for something else? It’s possible these workouts have a direct impact on that conclusion.

Either way, the Warriors should feel confident in their chances of a title heading into next season. Still, they should approach the NBA Draft with full attention and look for the best possible outcome.
